attended to a worcester 24 rsf combi today. hot water runs fine but when any cold tap is run in the house the boiler stops!!!!! im totally baffled by this? has anyone had any experience of this. weird!!!!
Have you measured the hot flow rate when the cold taps are used? Perhaps it's dropping below the minimum required for the flowswicth assembly to activate or perhaps the flow switch assembly is faulty. Perhaps flow restrictor/strainer in boiler is partially blocked.
gas rate , flow rate fine. u misunderstand. the boiler works perfectly fine when dhw is run but when the cold tap is run at the same time as dhw the boiler stops.!!!! how can running a cold tap stop the boiler in dhw mode. ??this is weird !!!!!!!!. i can only think that once the cold mains is run its flow rate simlply diverts sufficient cold water from going into combi for heating!! ive just never heard of this before.ideas?
Nope, didn't misunderstand...very common problem with reduced mains pressure, seized up stopcocks, partially closed isolating valves, blocked strainers, blocked flow restrictors etc.
That's why I said measure the flowrates. For a start measure the flowrate from the cold mains to get an idea of the maximum likely flow.
MI will probably tell you the min pressure/flowrate to activate the boiler.
