Hello,

I have a Worcester Bosch 28si and an on and off timer (Bosstherm BUP).

I would like to install a room thermostat to replace the current timer.

I have checked the current wiring. A wire runs from the fused spur into the timer and then a five core wire runs from the timer into the boiler.
Not sure why it currently needs a five core wire.

I have the following questions:

a) Can this boiler take a room thermostat?
b) Which thermostat is compatible with this particular boiler?
c) I cannot find a wiring diagram for this model which was discontinued in 2002. i don't want to bust the PCB so I could do with some tips on wiring a thermostat.

Many thanks for listening.

Yes it can take a thermostat, any thermostat!

If you choose one, I'll tell you how to wire it ;)

You can wire it into the timer, so you won't even have to take the cover off the boiler

I'll buy what you advice me to buy. I have no knowledge of the various brands.
This is the timer I currently have:

Does your Boss programmer have hot water buttons on it?

I recommend Honeywell controls, DT92E and Y6630D are my favourites.

You can also get programmable thermostats, so you can adjust the temperature for different times of the day, however these are complicated to set.

Are you going to replace the programmer and install a programable thermostat? Or are you going to install a regular thermostat alongside your existing programmer?

no i think it just controls the central heating.

That is why i thought i would have to replace it.
