Hi

We do not have any hot water.

Our boiler, a Worcester, is working as the central heating is blasting out, but we do not have any water. The instruction book advice is to clean a strainer which has been done, we have also repressurized the Megaflow as per the instructions. I have looked at the pipes and a hot pipe comes from the boiler to a silver Honeywell box marked "hot water" the other side of the box the pipe is cold. The Honeywell programmer is on and the Hot Water light is on. If the Heating slide is switched off on the programmer the boiler does not fire up to heat the water.

Any suggestions.

Thanks

It sounds as if the HW motor valve is failed.

You SHOULD have an electric immersion heater element which you can turn on the heat the water.

Some cowboys dont bother to connect it. In that case if you slide the lever on the HW motor valve and latch it in the slot then you will heat up the water in the cylinder whenever the heating is on.

This should only be done as a very temporary measure as its bypassing a safety device! There are still three others though. You should not leave the boiler on when you are out unless you return the lever to the resting position.

You need a competent heating engineer with the qualification in unvented cylinders.

There are a number of reasons why you may not have water, some of them could be related to the interruption of safety devices. As its an unvented unit I would not advise over-riding or tampering with it to obtain water even as a temp measure, unfotunatly you need to seek the assistance from an expert, qualified and trained to work on this type of unit.

Hi

What is a HW motor valve ?

In simple terms its a motorised valve!

However, because it comprises a safety device on the unvented it should only be worked on by a competent engineer with the appropriate qualification for unvented cylinders!
