Hi Folks,

I would appreciate some guidance please.

I am getting a very intermittent bang that appears to be coming from
the main pipe run from the boiler to two zone valves. This happens at
no particular time that I can observe.

Boiler detail:
Worcester Bosch Greenstar 24i Junior Condensing System Boiler.
ID No: 7716130144 5882036638

The boiler was fitted to an old vented 'S' sytem in Nov 2005 and is
now a sealed system. Two single zone valves...one for Hot water...
one for Heating.

System details:
The boiler is situated in the Garage, and the zone valves are situated
in the upstairs airing cupboard. The system has been running quiet
and reliable since the boiler was fitted by an ex-British Gas engineer.

Bang Noise:
Have only been using the Hot water through the summer. Came to use
the heating a few weeks ago and I am getting an intermittent loud bang
in the main pipe run from the boiler to the Zone valves. The bang
only happens once, sometimes twice through the day or evening. I
have checked and find the heating zone valve is closed when I get to it.
(If this is significant?) And there is no apparant effect on the boiler.

I can leave the hot water set to on all day with no bangs, but as soon
as we put the Heating on we get a bang at no particular time interval.

There are no cold spots on the radiators, and I have bled the main pipe
run, so I feel pretty confident that there is no air in the system.

Service History:
The boiler was serviced by British Gas in May this year(2010) under
their 'home Care 100' plan. Not sure if I am covered by this plan for
what is a very intermittent noise that does not appear to have any
effect other than to put the frighteners on me and the wife.

Any response would be very welcome and very appreciated.

Thanks
