Hi All.

As stated, i have a worcester highflow balanced flue boiler. Its been great up until a few weeks ago. Now i cant get hot water without the central heating being on.

The manuals guide has suggested that the diverter valve is faulty.

Does the whole diverter valve on this boiler need to be replaced or would a new motor do the trick.

How easy would it be to drain down. Finally, if i have to buy a new diverter valve, what type do i need. It looks as if it has 3 wires??

Hi joe

I'm not too familiar with these old boilers but have changed the diverter.

It could be the syncron motor so i would swop this over first. You can test then with a meter or a flying lead but you need to know your way around electrics.

Diverter is a pain to change and you need to isolate hot water and drain down. If i remember, think the diverters are 2 port ?? Drayton acl. You are right in that they have 3 wires.

Maybe someone else will provide a little extra advice.

Do you mean 2 position as opposed to 2 port?. Presume this is the highflow 3.5 and you are right in that they now use acl diverter and also that they are a right pain as the pipe onto the hx needs to be undone and rewashered.

When you ask for hot water does the boiler fire and the water goto the CH position??

Am not so sure that its the diverter valve as the boiler is HW priority so Divertor does not need to move unless its jammed in the CH position.

Check that the diverter valve has not seized up??

Can it be operated by the little lever??

I have had a few clocks go faulty as they are always in 24hr mode then when it is switched onto timed the relays go weak and dont come on. Give the thing a gentle tap on the front if it has the built in digital clock for this fault.

boiler is a heatslave Z+ G50 (what it says on the front)

I can move the lever on the valve. I cant hear or feel anything switching when i set the programmer to either hot water or heating.

Would this mean i need a new valve??

However, i did find that the lever had been fixed into manual (service by BG). It was 'latched' over onto the left hand side of the valve (towards where the pipe leaves the valve and goes to the pump).
