word 2003 all icons greyed out

Hi all

have been experinces problems with microsoft office 2003 word, excel and power point

the problem is that all the icons are greyed out and i am not able to type on it, any existing documents are not able to be worked on as it says its locked and am not able to unlock it as all icons greyed out

any help would be greatly received
