Hi we are looking to heat our workshop so we bought a oil fired boiler and are looking for some advice on fitting the vented system please .

boiler is worcester greenstar ii he 12/22

we have 3 double rads and a hot water cyl to install. cylinder in out 22mm copper, rads are 10mm micro plastic in out .

we have 2 header tanks one large and one small for c/h + h/w these will be installed in the loft area of the workshop and supplied by 15mm copper pipe

the boiler will obviously be on the floor level of the shop

Questions are :

The hot water cylinder can this be on the same level as header tanks or must it be below ?

Do we need to install mortised valve if we want constant hot water and constant heating ?

dose the c/h pump have to be positioned in any specific location ? ie can I fit it on supply just above boiler ?

Thanks

Tommy

The cylinder must be below the tank.

You will need a motorised valve. A 3-port or 2 x 2-ports. You need these to control hot water and room temperatures.

There is a fair amount of flexibility regarding the pump. It can go by the boiler.

if there was no valve in place what could happen or would it just boil the water ?

Thanks for the reply

Without motorised valves, you'll have no control over either how hot the water gets, or how hot the rooms get.

Not sure of Scottish building control regs, and judging by your questions, neither are you.
Maybe you should consider paylng a professional to do the job properly.

Just noticed your name suggests there may be volatile substances in your workshop. Even more reason to consult a professional before proceeding.
