things are normaly discontinued because they are superceded by a better model
or they discontinue the brand because they are more trouble than they are worth and they want to see the back of them
lets hope its the first option
most cheaper jigsaws have a tendancy to "crab" slightly it just means you have to take time to hold the body at the angle required to cut strait and if you have a plastic shoe with a pointer you need to move the line reference point
you cannot use a strait edge [batton] for any more than thin material at around 6 mm[the greater the angle thinnner material]
as the bottom of the blade will start to cut into a progressivley tighter arc
but for freehand cutting you should be ok cutting normal thiknesses
