from a 1970s local authority built flat.

There are 2 (thin) reds and 2 blacks from the Henley block disappearing behind the service fuse, which I think (hope!) feed the Wylex in some way.

Is that some sore of former dual tariff setup? That's a lot of main switches!

Did you see inside the wylex?

Probably some form of dual tariff, flats were probably built with electric heaters.

Not seen inside yet. I'm a bit cautios about going in as Wylexes (Wyleges?) of that age often have live bits easily touched.

Oh absolutely. It looks to be the right vintage to be dodgy with the cover off, so best not to if you're not sure.

Looks like a flat with underfloor heating, where the wylex did the heating and normal electrics.

As some stage maybe one of the circuits (heaters?) have been moved to the mem, maybe for E7 ?

Though the wylex boards are quite tame compared to some of the 3phase boards around at the same time... D/S loadmaster, federal, bill 3036 etc

But yeah still not good for the OP to be taking apart if he is not sure what to expect

Also in the bedrooms, there are circular BESA boxes on the bedroom wall. From above there's a 2.5mm (or imperial equivalent) red & black pair, which might be looped from one to the next, and from the box a 4mm (or imperial equivalent) red & black pair drop from the box towards the floor.

The reds have been cut off and the blacks have all been commoned up.

Not quite sure what supplied what but underfloor heating with maybe a thermostat or contactor on each bedroom wall could be possible.

Some of the light switches have loop at the switch with Scruits (tm).

Slightly more recently some moron decided it would be a good idea to remove the front panel of a storage heater, spray the heater black, and box it in with a home made radiator cabinet constructed of T&G cladding boards. Well that's gone in the wheeliebin (along with the storage heater).

Or 2-phase/split-phase (whichever you prefer but keep it to yourself) domestic boards used in the USA.
