how do you over come not haviing th hw off wire anybody ??

It could be wired back to the cylinder stat satisfied. Seen it done plenty. Or it's a HW priority. Go to honeywells site and have a butchers at the wiring diagrams.

So the grey wire should be wired in with the hot water satisfied and that has the same effect as the hw off (which is the missing wire)

Not quite, it means the heating will work on its own only when the water is hot whereas a hot water off from the prog would allow you to have seperate times for CH and HW.

you will need grey wire, going into htw satisfied on cylinder stat & back to htw off position on clock. so your heating will stay on after the htw is upto temperature:cool:

Do you have a hw off from the cyl stat? If so then as stated above then its been wired as hw priority with the timer set so that you can have hw on its own or hw/ch together like a gravity hw timer would be setup.

Ive changed a valve before like this and the custards was adamant it worked before. Ended up having to rewire it but fortunately everything was in airing cupboard

set cylinder stat to 60 degrees & then set blr stat to 55 degrees, htw will never reach temperature thus not turning heating off!!!!

more often it is a 3 wire valve as well on hot water priority

no you don't!

please explain.....

the bold above is not needed as the cylinder stat when satisfied will switch the voltage to keep the heating on so long as the hot water on is active to the cyl stat

http://octaveblue.co.uk/c_heating/index.htm look at 4th diagram down

you need a htw off wire from clock going to HTW satisfied on cylinder stat also connected to Grey on three port valve. the grey wire is used to move valve right over to CH & block off HTW? if this wire is not wired in this way as cylinder stat gets upto temp it will switch blr off including CH & BLR! when it is wired in with the grey wire heating can be put on without htw as it takes 240 volts off grey to put on orange..

a lot of people just don't wire the grey up on the contract i work on hence when wtr is hot rads go cold!

How many "3 port valves" have you seen? Some only use the brown and neutral to power thw motor open, hence hot water priority or heating for that matter.

The valve may have 3 ports, the wires may have grey and white, doesn't mean they are going anywhere.
