Y Plan Pumping Over Steaming Hot!

Converted an old system to a fully pumped vented system.

Called back today and discovered the vent pumping boiling water over and the condensation in the loft space was un believable.

It does need a lid on the tank however it shouldnt be pumping over red hot like this. WHAT HAVE I MISSED?

Boiler is downstairs with Flow running up to loft space, through air separator which also has Vent attached, into pump then through Mid position valve back to heating / hot water.

The Feed is tied into the heating circs close to air separator.

pump is set to speed 2. Valve on return from cylinder is approx half closed.

There is a auto bypass before the pump attaching to the return pipe.

Any suggestions would be lovely, never had this issue before, wondering if i should remove air seperator and pipe without.

Ye at the moment i'm thinking of removing the air separator and just piping it with out.

Pump vent and feed are wrongly piped.

It should be vent -> feed -> pump -> radiators/tank

ye, going to pipe it like that tomorrow. We always used airjec air seperators to connect vent, feed etc.. and never had any both but this one is a different one with only 3 ports. Well its going in the scrap bucket and back to basics

You could try to remove air separator, put in your own. H. 22mm is best also turn pump to 2. This can help.

A bit drastic ain't it? What makes you think the problem is caused by the 3 port valve?

If the system is configured correctly pump speed is imatrerial. Pump speed is there to overcome system resistance to maintain correct differential temperature.

Sorry you miss understood me, i meant 3 port air separator. There are 2 types one of which doesnt incorporate the feed. We normal use the myson one which has 4 connections. This time my supplier sent a different type.

Just been back to the property..... yep on a friday night! Thats dedication i think.

Any way air separator out and system piped, boiler > Vent > Feed > Pump.

Vent and Feed 60mm apart. Pump speed has been set on 3.

Seemed okay when i left however it did once when i was up in the loft.

when i switch from HW & CH to CH only it suddenly Vented like crazy.

However that was on Pump Speed 2. Increased Pump Speed and seemed ok.

Will call back tomorrow i think.

There is an auto Bypass after the pump but im not too sure really how to set it. Currently its on its lowest setting 0.1 bar

It seems likely that when swithching over to heating only then, it pumps the expansion over the by-pass could do with opening a little more.
What ballpark price is it for a job like that?

yep i did actually open the bypass fully, if its continues then i may swap auto bypass for a control valve / gate valve type.

What price do you mean? For the whole job or the repair work?

We charged about £2500 for a Worcester 24 Ri, re configure to Fully pumped and completely replaced all the controls. Plus magna clean, system flush and replace a few valves.

Took about 3 days however the 3rd day was mainly me wiring it all up. We also uncovered many dodgy doings that need adjusting to say the least.

it was a reasonable price for the work involved however i didnt charge for all the mini adjustments and now im thinking i should of.

Im a sucker for a cuppa tea and a biscuit.
