Yale alarm please help!!!

We have had a yale alarm for a number of years. Having changed the batteries in the box PIR movement detectors this week one of the PIR is no longer linked to the alarm. It still flashes at movement and sets off alarm if I 'tamper' with it. However, it does not set of the alarm or beep if I walk past it with alarm on.

Any advice would be most appreciated.

Start by unscrewing it from the wall and seeing if it connects in a different or nearer place. Sometimes metalwork in the way, or an electronic item like an internet router, wifi or baby alarm can interfere with the signal, though this is not common.

You could re-learn it to the control panel or siren.

If you have lost the instructions then you can look them up on the net, but you will need to know what model it is.

If it does not connect it might have gone faulty but you can still buy replacement PIRs, new or used.

You say it set off the alarm if you tamper (open the case or take it off the wall?) Then it is still communicating.

Take the batteries out, verify that the tamper switch is working and the jumper inside is in the right place. You have to leave it for some minutes after triggering the PIR before it is ready to transmit again. In a busy place it might never reach that point. You might be able to adjust the sleep time but you will have to consult the instructions for your model.

Thanks I will give that a try also. Would it not be very strance for it to work for several years without issue then not work after battery changed?

it's possible you disturbed or damaged something while handling it. Or could it have been not working for a while?

Avoid Duracell batteries, for some strange reason they are a strange fit, and try different batts just in case.

Was definitely working beforehand. Batterues definitely working okat as it goes off when tampered with. Thanks very much though.
