Yellow Coloured Timber

Right, soft wood with a greenish tinge ... pressure treated. Got that, big tick.

But yesterday, walking past a skip, I noticed some offcuts from timber they'd used to build an extension that had a yellowish colour to the outside surfaces. Inside, just the usual softwood blonde.

So, what's the reason for the yellow colouring?

I don't think so. The yellow timber was new and used in the roof as far as I could see.
 
It will be regularised and treated timber used for internal work like kits, joists, roofs etc. Treated but not suitable for ground contact....can't remember the name of the treatment.

treatments vary in colour, just bought treated timber in pink.
You went shopping for timber wearing pink...... ? ?
