hi guys posted yesterday onyl to find i still have the same problem.

whats happened is ive changed a plastic two way two gang light switch to a steel one.

the difference is that the new has L1 L2 L3 INSTEAD OF L1 L2 COMMON

so wiring it just the same as the old one L1 to L1 L2 TO L2 COMMON TO L3 WITH PATCH TO L3, this hasnt worked out right.

instead of it operating two way fro two lights one in and one outside, it operates like this.

if the primary switch is off the new light switch doesnt work defeats it being two way, if the primary switch is on then it operates both the inside and outside light but..... only if the outside light is switched then what happens is the outside light comes on then turning on the inside light the outside light goes off until the inside light is turned off again.

my bruv who lives far was sparks trained and says the new switch is nto compatable for two way and needs one with a common..so i contacted teh ebay supplier who says all hes double switches are made for two way.

please advise as to yuor opinions

Used something like that recently, its ok for two way but you'll need a meter to check out which ones used as common

photo's people...
can't see it = much harder to understand what's wrong..
post pictures of the backs of both the "primary" switch and the "secondary" switch..

new - old
L1 is Com
L2 is L1
L3 is L2

oh and your brother's an idiot.. and shouldn't be doing electrics..

yeah just post it to the following address complete with quotations for a ten thousand gigawatt chair

I'd go the environmetally sound route..

put up an extra tall lightning rod and wire the chair directly to it..

then you have a game of russian roulette..

you sit a different inmate in it every time it rains and wait for a bolt of lightning..

sounds fine but just for fun can you not put a geezer on top with a cattle prod other than entertaining the observers it also checks continuity
