The element in my Zanussi oven has bust and I am trying to source a new one. The oven is old and there are no model numbers that I can find.

Looking on various spares websites I can find a near match to the one above http://shop.zanussi.co.uk/product/3570355010/870/1900+Watt+Upper+Combi+Heating+Element but it does not have the 'hinge' that my one does.

Does anyone know please what the 'hinge' actually does and could this element be replaced with a standard 'non hinged' one ?

Many thanks,
Oscar

I would say the only difference between yours & the one you have linked to is that you have no provision for connecting the earth wire. You can overcome this by fitting a crimped ring & fastening the earth wire to one of the mounting studs instead.

Many thanks. There is already an earth connected to the bolt as you describe so I will just add the one that was on the centre terminal to that. Just waiting for the part to be delivered.
