Zanussi Jetsystem 1200 FJS 1225 W

My zanussi washing machine has developed a fault which has been ongoing now for about 6 months+ The display has been going blank along with the lights going out. A tap to the top of the machine brings it back to life. However, just recently the machine stops, lights go out etc and a tap WON'T do the trick. I have to repeatedly push the green start/pause button to start if moving again and then only for 30 secs or so and then it will stop, however you can get through the whole wash doing this but it takes a while. Yesterday a 56 min wash took 3+ hours.
