Could be a build up of crud in the machine or it could be grease from the bearings. Is the machine very noisy on spin? Turn the drum by hand, does it feel rough or sound noisy when you turn it? If it does then it's bearings.
If it's just a build up of crud then you need to run some maintenance washes (hottest wash, 1 aerial tablet and no laundry).
