my zanussi turbodry 1050 washing/drying machine is making a very loud knocking noise and it seems that one or two of the drum satblizers has broken. How easy is this to repair? and where do I get a special screwdriver from to open the top?

Stabilisers? Do you mean the drum lifters (paddles) inside the drum?
There is no special screwdriver, it'll either be torx screws or 8mm bolt head screws.
