Hi,

My Zanussi washer dryer has blown its bearings. 11 months old so should be under guarantee.

My question is, the bearing has been going for quite a while (my fault for not getting it sorted earlier), does this harm other components?

I am wondering if to take up AO.com's cover at £9 per month. Usually I would not bother but wondering if other components are prone to failure after running with broken bearings?

Thanks.

Just go for the warranty claim, as soon as you can! There shouldn't be any other issues with bearing wear, but either way its not your problem. Contact the machine supplier straight away.
John :)

Thanks John. Repair man out today.

So no need to worry about other secondary component failure as a result of the bearing failure?

Unlikely, but secondary problems are water leaks through the old bearing seals, and if the things are really bad the two drums can rub against eachother but you wouldn't really know what was going on there with the other noises.
Just tell the repair guy the machine has never been overloaded!
Hope it goes well
John :)

It was the pulley.

Crap thing is that they can't get back to me until a week on Thursday to fit a new one!!!

Absolute rubbish. Really annoyed that our family of four is now without a washing machine for 9 days. Not that they give a toss.
