Zanussi washing machine, runs for a minute then ends.

Hi folks,

I have a fault with my zanussi washing machine which isn't covered in the manual. Its a Jetstream 1400, 8kg machine.

When you select a program it runs for a minute, takes some water in, then just cuts back as if you hadn't started the program. After a few tries there was enough water in it to be able to set it on drain, and it ran for the couple of minutes pumping the water out again.

It doesn't come up with any error codes, but I saw a useful thread on here which was a couple of years old but mentioned that if you press the start button and the button next to it you get more information.

When I do that it comes up with ESC on the display.

I have checked that the water inlet is at the right angle (according the manual) the outlets are at the right height, and opened the drain plug on the front to ensure that there isn't a blockage.

I feel sure that its most likely to be something basic with set up, so wondered if anyone knew what the code ESC means.

Depending on the model I think it just indicates you are in the diagnostic mode. Turn the selector knob to position 10 & it should then display alarm codes.
