Zanussi washing machine sneezing violently (Aquacycle 1000)

I know it's the season for colds but thought the Zanussi would apply its immune system to batting away the pesky viruses.

I was wrong.

I'm not kidding you it is exactly like a massive sneeze: ATISSHHOOOOOO.

1. Start normal cycle filling 2-3 minutes.
2. At 2/3 full:ATISSHHOOOOOO.
3. Drum starts turning.
4. Further sneezes after 2 or 3 seconds
5. Dial rapidly cycles through about 1/4 of a rotation, with various whirring.
6. Stops

This happens both on cold and hot inlet cycles.(plumbed to both).

Have you tried a dose of Night Nurse in the soft rinse drawer

I wonder if it is loose scale in the outer drum, maybe something like calgon might help
