what is the correct way to remove them.

Do you unscrew the thing and let the carrier come out.
unscrew it and pull the carrrier at same time or what

This is the third time now that a new one has failed to come right out,
forcing me to ease it out, but on screwing back it has become open circuit.
anyone else had problems.

The easiest way in my opinion, is to gently unscrew the fuse holder, and at the same time, carefully easing it out of its faceplate, until the fuse can be slid out to the side for replacement. When the fuseholder is out, the MK FCU's have a unique padlocking facility, therefore they are often liked by plumbers and tradesmen, who can safely lock off the circuit with a small padlock, before servicing the boiler, or renewing that immersion element.

my engineer come to service the combi couple of years ago , he unscrewed the thing and it jammed, that was my first encounter with the problem, and its happened to me today with a new one just trying to derate the fuse

I've fitted loads and never had any bother.

You unscrew the screw and the little drawer pops out.

To put it back in, push gently on the drawer. Turn the screw backwards till you hear a click. This will ensure you don't cross thread the screw and the drawer.

Screw it in while still gently pressing on the drawer.

done.
