Hello Gents. As you will guess i'm not a fitter but I have done a dozen or windows as a general builder and have had 2 frames split at the welding today. It happened when knocking in the beads. Its never happened before so was wondering if if its likely my fault or am I entitled to ring the manufacuturers? Any insight welcome.

I have literally fit hundreds of windows and have never had one split on me so it may well be a manufacturing fault. They can usually take a fair knock on the frame itself and certainly shouldn't be splitting by tapping home the beading. Do you know any other tradesmen who use the same firm to confer with as if a few have had problems it strengthens your case.

Hello, No I dont know anyone else. Ive bought all my windows from them in the past its whiteline. Lately they have got a lot of things wrong -miss measures mostly so im losing faith. It was a bit tight getting the beads in so had to hit it hard but they clipped the packers in themselves so if thats the reason I would think the glass was a bit big. I spoke to their engineer ages ago who said you can hit em really hard witha rubber mallet and not do any harm but maybe he just meant no harm to the glass?

Whiteline use to maybe still do manufacture Kommerling but have recently moved to liniar, we fitted our first liniar job (not from whiteline) yesterday the windows looked good but seem a bit flimsy as they do not use reinforcing in them, my fitters said the beads needed a bit of banging to get them on.
