It’s a striking shade of green that is said to symbolise ‘new beginnings.’ Now Pantone 15-0343, or Greenery as it’s better known, has been named Colour of the Year 2017 by the colour designer.
Described as a fresh and zesty yellow-green shade that evokes the first days of spring when nature’s greens revive, restore and renew, it is thought to bring to mind flourishing foliage and the great outdoors.
Greenery is also said to satisfy our growing desire to rejuvenate, revitalise and unite as we seek to reconnect with nature.
“The tangy yellow-green speaks to our desire to express, explore, experiment and reinvent, imparting a sense of buoyancy,” said Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Colour Institute. “Through its reassuring yet assertive vibrancy, Greenery offers us self-assurance and boldness to live life on our own terms, during a time when we are redefining what makes us successful and happy.”
With Greenery now the colour of the year, the outside will be coming indoors in 2017.
