A free survival guide to keep children safe will be made available following the success of a fundraising campaign.
RoSPA’s (Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents) Brighter Beginnings Appeal is an appeal that aims to help disadvantaged families protect their young children from life-changing accidents.
The appeal has now been boosted by a £2,500 gift from The Patron’s Fund, which will pay for the downloadable guide called Keeping Kids Safe. It will include advice, practical tools and tips for parents and carers on keeping babies and children under five safe.
Accidents are the biggest killer of children and young people, with at least one child under five being killed every week. At least half of all under-fives will attend A&E this year due to an accident.
The Brighter Beginnings Appeal was started earlier this year as part of RoSPA’s centenary events.
Rebecca Hickman, campaigns manager for RoSPA, said: “Accidents can devastate lives and cause heartbreak to families, and yet they don’t have to happen.”
The Patron’s Fund was set up to acknowledge the work of the charitable organisations for which Her Majesty The Queen acts as Patron, on the occasion of her 90th birthday.
