Roof tiles are available in a range of patterns and colours. They are usually made of concrete, but occasionally made of clay. The colour range includes shades of red, green, brown and green. The finish of the tiles can be smooth or grained. As with all smooth surfaces, rain will run off more quickly and the grained tile is only suitable for a roof having a greater slope. Check with the manufacturer when choosing a tile, as they will recommend the minimum sloping angle for each style they produce.
There are plain tiles with rectangular, curved and pointed lower edges. The ridge tiles that cover the surface where two sloping faces meet can have a half-round, hogback or angled profile. There are also single-lap interlocking tiles
