In the process of renovating the front room, we decided to ditch the plain white light switches with nice brushed chrome ones. I knew the house was re-wired in 2008 and that the switches all had earth cables in the back box.
The old switches are marked switch 1, switch 2 and COM. There is also...
Good afternoon,
We have had our nest and heatlink installed for about a week now and its all working like a dream. We just did the install ourselves and it went without a hitch replacing the old Danfloss programmer with the heatlink. My question is that there is nowhere on the heatlink to...
Just a quick post that some on here may find amusing.
The other day I replaced the non-dimmable LED light bulbs in the living room and downstairs hallway with dimmable counterparts as they can be used with automated Z-Wave switches what don't require a neutral connection. (Hallway and Living...
Hi all,
I am trying to change the motion detector light which takes 2 cores and 1 earth. However, the wires from the wall ( pic 2) and the wall switch ( pic 3) is 3 cores and 1 earth.
Which 2 cores can i join together?
Thank you in advance for all your help.
I am aware that this is probably a stupid question, and sorry if it is.
I am replacing a light fitting, and am having some trouble, because where the lighting cables have been butchered by whoever last did it, the three earths do not quite reach the terminal on the light fitting.
Here comes...
Just wondering if the only reason some RCD's/RCBO's have functional earths is to allow the electronics inside the RCD/RCBO to remain active in the event the incoming neutral is lost or impaired casing a low/absent voltage between L & N.
Any other reasons for functional earths? Are RCBO's/RCD's...
Just seen a video from a fairly big UK based YouTuber, who went to Home Base to get a some bits to make up an extension lead socket. Shame he picked the 2 core 0.75mm² flex.
Not sure if he know's he has not earthed it or not or the safety implications of what he has done?
Video Below, see...
Hi, just had a storage cupboard installed under the stairs. The gas meter is located in there and has an earth wire attached to one of the top gas pipes.
The thing is is that it now spans across the cupboard opening. My question is whether I can unattach the wire from the top and reattach it to...
I'm building a project that will open the circuit from my thermostat from the boiler when noone is home and the temperature is above 8°C using some 3.3v and 5v electronics connected to a 240v 10A rated relay board.
I've got some heat resistant 5 core (so I can expand to control hot water in...
Putting aside the fact that Supplementary Equipotential Bonding is often not needed these days in accordance with the 17th edition providing that all circuits in the bathroom are protected by a 30ma RCD, all incoming services are mains bonded back to the MET, and that all circuits meet the...
