Gap between sections of window in curved bay

Hi I've got a curved bay at the front of the house with upvc window that is in 5 parts, between each part is a vertical tube shaped section to allow the window to curve around the bay. I've uploaded 2 photos to show this. Where each section of window meets the vertical tube section there is some...

Gap Between Garage Roof & Wall

Hello, Hopefully a straightforward question (and hopefully I'm posting this in the right place), I have little to no DIY skills, but I'm working on it! We have an old Garage/Outbuilding that has been in a state of disrepair since long before we bought the house. We finally have a bit of time...

For anyone that has installed composite decking... What expansion gaps do you leave and does it depend on what temperature you are installing them in on that day?

Gap between skirting floor and wooden floor

I've installed this new floor and used acoustic underlay (mutemat-3) and plywood below the wooden floor. The floorboards weren't changed and are quite old and crooked (in retrospect I should have changed them but wasn't guided to do so). Also, perimeter strip (a foamy strip) has been installed...

We have recently installed some new sash windows and the reveal lining has been attached. I have not ordered or placed the architrave around the window but the intention is to do so. Currently it was foamed but there is some deep areas, is it ok to use Gyproc filler or better to NHL 3.5 then...

    UPVC window gap hinges

Hi all, I moved into my house last year. All of the windows upstairs have huge gaps in them, some of them I can actually fit a whole finger down the hinge side and can see daylight. These windows were only installed in 2011. As per advice I’ve seen I have bought some new hinges. Just replaced a...

What size gap at bottom of stud for ply/PB

Hi, I am building a half stud wall that I will be covering with 12mm ply and then plasterboard, then adding skirting once it’s had a skim. I was wondering if I need to leave a gap at the bottom of either covering like you would on a masonry wall? I would think not to leave a gap for the ply, but...

uPVC window gap - window dropped

Please see attached pictures. This window seems to have dropped a little and there is a gap at top which lets in a lot of road noise & draught. The window itself opens & closes perfectly. Windows are in place about 13 years. Any thoughts on what I need to adjust to seal it up. Many thanks.

Gap between wood frame and brick

Looking to repaint the garage door so thought I might as well do the woodwork at the same time and looking for a product to fill any gaps between the brick and frame. My first thought was silicone but then wondered if a putty of some sorts would be better? Regards

Slate roof redone, does this look right?

Just had the original Welsh slate removed, felt and new battens. The original slate and additional reclaimed slates laid. Called the roofer back as the eaves didn't look right and a gap is now evident behind barge boards. Gaps under slates on eaves. Gap behind fascia board (that's an old...

Moths - get rid of carpet/close gap between built-in dresser and concrete floor

We live in a rented flat and have recently started having problems with carpet moths in one of the rooms. There is 100% fitted wool carpet everywhere, so perfect for them. When trying to find the nest we noticed what looked like rice grains near the fitted/built-in cupboard/dresser and pulled up...

Gap between top of shower tray and bottom of plasterboard

Hi everyone, I'm clueless about this but after our last shower developed a big leak (it was 15 years old) I'm having a new one installed and the plumber put the shower tray in yesterday, cutting it in under the plasterboard, but leaving about a 2cm gap between the top of the tray and the bottom...

Qarquet: sanding, filling and finishing... discuss :)

Hi all, I've just laid a reclaimed maple parquet/wood block floor and I'm in the process of sourcing filler and finish. After reading a lot my preference would be to go for Lecol 7500 and Blanchon hardwax oil. However I'm struggling to get hold of both locally in Bristol (in time for hiring the...
