My radiator is a bit corroded around the blanking plug, see photo - flaking paint, green and white flakes. Do I need a new rad (soon? ) or is there a (temp) fix?
Lately there is some air in the system and I found this as the potential source.
Hey,
So I have this kind of Tower Rad installed:
https://victoriaplum.com/product/the-heating-co-santa-fe-traditional-radiator-952-x-659
As per the pictures attached it doesn't use the standard 1/2” BSP valve size, what is it using?
I am guessing it is a 1/4?
Cheers
Hi,
apologies for another thread about radiator banging. I’ve read the others and I’ve tried the main suggestion of balancing, but no matter what the settings are my radiator still makes the noise.
We’ve had a new vertical radiator installed (and a new Worcester combi 6 months ago), when the...
Last week I had a new boiler fitted. Its external and no controller fitted yet so I have to switch on/off at wall.. whenever I adjust TRV I can hear the water flying through the rads... not the bubbling noise of air just a loud whooshing noise... this didn't happen with old boiler but this one...
I have removed a radiator from my living room wall.
The wall brackets were done in a way I have not seen before. Instead of being screwed into the wall, they had a nut holding them into a bolt that was coming out of the wall.
I can't seem to remove these bolts from the wall, they just spin...
Hi,
I am currently trying to install a new ......... (blyss wall - mounted panel heater 1500w (195jk) and I noticed that there was no earth cable for the new (heater).
Upon checking the manual again I saw that it says 'this product is double insulated and must not be earthed. If there are any...
System worked fine before, in fact it’s only 18 months old and was just serviced. But I just took off a radiator to redecorate and after putting it back on and filling it up I have at F2 fault.
When turning the hot water on, the temperature goes up past 100 and then the F2 appears. So it...
I'm thinking about replacing a rather boring radiator with a "designer" one, just for cosmetic reasons. My question is; can I easily replace it with a slightly smaller one? The pipes are coming up through floor tiles (see picture) and I really don't want to dig those up in order to move them...
I am looking to replace some old radiators. These are Type 22, but only 80mm deep compared to modern 105mm. Does anyone have any old heat output tables which would let me see their output so that I can get the correct new size
Just looking for a bit of advice. I just moved into my end terrace, it has an open plan livingroom with an open staircase. I replaced both old storage heaters in the living room and kitchen. The issue is keeping heat in. I have just had the windows/doors replaced and thought this would help. To...
Hi All
This is my first post here. Have been using this forum for a while but just joined. I have recently changed a radiator in toilet downstairs with a column type and it didn’t warm up properly. I thought I would balance the whole system to get it right. Searched the interweb a lot but many...
I have towel rail on bathroom in chrome and white radiators all around the house with copper pipe which need a bit of paint in grey? chrome and white.
What kind of paint you suggest without spending a fortune which does not fade under the hot temperature?
Thanks
Hi all, for a long time I have just had three Hive TRV's. One in my bedroom, one in my bathroom and one in the spare bedroom.
I have just installed 6 more Hive TRV's for the remaining radiators in the house (except the main bathroom rad what intentionally does not have a TRV) and wanted to know...
The bottom of my radiator has eroded and water keeps coming out and it’s leaking into downstairs, it’s the copper pipe that connects the radiator and goes under the floor boards. Is there any way I can stop the water coming out of it just for tonight until a plumber can come out in the morning
Dear Forum Members!
I am researching options for moving a radiator to an adjacent wall (increasing the pipe run by about 190cm).
The existing radiator has the following fitting:
Here is how I imagine the process after watching some videos on Youtube :))))
· Identify the inflow hose...
Morning all
I’m looking at replacing an older rad in my lounge. At present, it’s covered by a sofa and which will be difficult to avoid with any large horizontal rad due to the size/layout of the room.
Which of these options is going to heat my room better:
1. New 10,800BTU horizontal rad...
Hi. Complete novice when it comes to plumbing. This should be a simple question. I have a radiator which I can only turn on and off with a spanner. I'm sure I can buy a cap for it as I think the valve is a locksheild valve.
Could someone tell me what I need to buy?
I thought something like...
If I remove a radiator from the system, do I just cap the inlet and outlet pipes or do the pipes need to be joined together for the system to flow?
The system is a solid fuel backboiler with vent / expansion tank in airing cupboard for radiators.
There are 5 radiators in the system, but we are...
hello I live in a student accommodation and have a radiator in my room with exposed pipes connected to it .The pipes are always hot even though the radiator is turned of so much so that they boil the room up.
Is there a way to make the pipes cold ?
Currently planning an extension and some internal work to re-do the kitchen and create a utility type of space. In doing this space is tight, but I can fit the rooms, walls in etc. The work is on a single story portion of the house with a flat roof.
As part of the work, the current front wall...
