Hi All
I need to remove the mosaic tiles (attached) and replace with a standard tile. If I remove the tiles, I am most likely going to have to break the plaster board behind, how do I refit the plaster board to the gap?
Sadly there is no stud wall behind to support the new plasterboard
Thanks
I was wondering if I could get some advice on what would be best for this particular wall. Ideally I would like to end at the worktop end, but if I do, then I will be tiling half a fused spur, which would probably look a bit crap. Other option is to tile behind the fridge, but I'm not too keen...
I am tiling my kitchen wall and window recess with a small 7.5x15cm white subway tile, in brick effect, with 1mm spacer with white grout, up to (at this point) the height of the extractor hood. So the tiles will be the same height all the way around the wall, (10 rows). I have just laid them...
Hi, I've layed No More Ply on my small bathroom floor ready for tiling. The sub floor was not perfect despite my best efforts, as it's old floor boards. I called No More Ply and they said just use more of the mega strength adhesive and it will expand to fill any small gaps.
The NMP went down...
I have just installed a new kitchen and have a new extractor hood to put up. We are thinking of tiling either 3/4 of the wall, or right to the ceiling with a small white brick tile. What I was wondering was; do I fir the extractor to the wall first, and tile around it (it's a square hood so...
Hi,
I've just removed the tiled floor in our utility room to find the tiles were laid directly onto Caberfloor which is sitting on 45mm thick polystyrene foam on a concrete base. The floor was laid about 25 years ago and was in okay condition other than were a large chest freezer had been.
I've...
I've recently moved into a property with an old an unattractive fireplace that is badly in need of some tlc.
Fireplace in it's most complete appearance.
There's a lot of damaged tiles, the grout is loose or missing in some places, the base is loose from the surround and most of all I think...
Hi, I bought 6mm No More Ply for my bathroom floor before I tile.
As you can see the floorboards are not perfect, and there is a piece of ply patching in one section. It all feels quite solid to me, but not perfectly flat everywhere as the boards are old. My worry is that when I put down the...
Morning,
I'm building a hearth for a log burner. Plan is to use bricks to build it up from the concrete subfloor. I need to level before tiling. Can I shutter it and pour a thin (say 5mm) layer of self levelling screed to give me a flat surface to tile from?
My concern is heating might cause...
I have recently started refurbishing my 2 bathrooms and have came to tiling part of my plan.
In bathroom 1 I have screwed any loose floorboards to the joists so that there is minimal movement, and then I have put 2 layers of 9mm Ply Hardwood down with staggered joints and a layer of Wood Glue...
New tiles on bathroom floor, a couple of days old.
The floor tiles are not perfectly level but very close.
I've noticed the grout is several mm below tile level, between tiles and at some wall area. It is deeply ressessed where the wall and floor tiles meet and missing behind soil pipe. Also...
We had a new kitchen installed before last summer and have now realised that our “builder” may have used the dot and dab technique when laying our porcelain floor tiles. The tiles are 600 x 600 and we’ve noticed that upon tapping some of the corners, there is a hollow sound; In other words, no...
I’ve been renovating our guest room and have built a vanity unit for a small sink in the corner of the room.
there is a small work surface which fits around the sink (100mm at its widest) which I plan to tile with small mosaic tiles. The sink will only get occasional use but the surface will...
Hi lovely DIY helpers!
I have done a lot of tiling in my time as a lover of DIY but never onto a surface like this of my sister’s kitchen. Removing the old tiles has left an uneven and very mixed surface. When I’ve finished removing all the old tiles, I just want to tile to where the old tiles...
I'm posting this in here, as it contains a variety of elements - building, plumbing, plastering, tiling, etc - so I'm not sure where to put it, but here goes!
Our house dates all the way back to 1995. It's a pretty ordinary concrete block house with some studding and plasterboard internal...
I want to tile over an out dated marble surround (see picture).
I was planning to scratch the old marble and then PVA.
Then use a cement based flex adhesive to fix the new tiles (see picture)
And advice greatly appreciated.
It’s a small area but realise these small tasks can turn out a lot...
Hi
Just had tiler out provide a quite to tile a small bathroom with a floor area of 5ft by 5ft6.
He quoted £300 to tile this small area and said that that he would have to temporarily remove the toilet.
I am in ‘the North’ where tradesman costs tend to be cheaper.
Is this a realistic price...
I feel like I've written about this a million times, but here goes....
When I moved in my property 8 years ago, I had tha bathroom retiled and the bathroom wall replastered. It's an exterior brick wall in a victorian house.
It then transpired the tiles were fixed directly to the plaster, with...
