Evening all. I have enquired about having a air source heat pump fitted after seeing adverts on social media. Very sceptical.
I have a solid brick detached property with no cavity. Wooden windows. Poor insulation. They said I’d benefit massively from the RHI scheme due to these reasons...
I seem to have what must be a common problem when using underfloor heating with a boiler however I haven’t managed to find a standard solution online. The boiler cycles at a high frequency due to the difference in boiler power compared to what the underfloor heating manifold will accept.
Setup...
I have installed heat spreaderplates between floor joists and installed wet UFH. I took care to stabilise the floor as much as possible with noggins and aluminium roof plate straps adapted to size to hold the joists as an additional measure.
I have placed 18mm t&g chipboard P5 flooring on top...
Hi,
My partner and I are having an extension on the back of our house and we would like UFH throughout the downstairs.
Most UFH systems I have found aren’t the best for wooden floorboards and the floor height would raise substantially, so I was wondering about the feasibility of replacing the...
Hello,
We are renovating a lower ground flat in a Victorian mansion block (but inside was completely rebuilt in 1989).
In the open plan kitchen/dining/living space my architect has suggested putting down foil, then a layer of wet UFH, Omnie Lowboard 15 straight on top of the concrete slab...
I’m looking at this UFH solution for an upcoming project on suspended timber floors.
https://www.omnie.co.uk/torfloor/
It’s the only solution I’ve found which gives a low floor build up and is designed to replace the structural floor.
It comprises a routed 22mm chipboard sheet with a foil...
A customer has asked for a quote for a garage conversion, one of the requests is to have underfloor heating, the problem is that they have asked for the electric mat system and the area is 40m2. is that even possible with the load on the wiring. it seems like a lot of cable under the floor. also...
Hi
I have underfloor heating pipes installed in between joists for first floor.
Wonder what anyone has used in the past for insulation between joists? Rock wool or Celotex boards? or any other insulation.
Realise the celotex route will be more expensive.
Thanks in advice.
Hi Guys,
I already posted that question on tilers forum, but got no answer so far...
We (my wife) has an idea about swapping kitchen and a living room... I got no problem with plumbing and electrics but she also want tiles and UFH in the new kitchen.
The current floor is wooden and...
Hi,
We have had an extension built and are having the layout of the house completey changed so thought it would be a good time to install underfloor heating. I'm a boiler guy by trade but have never installed UFH but it doesn't seem too complicated.
Firstly I assume that in the new extension...
Hi,
We are renovating our house - its currently been gutted and we are thinking of putting Wet Underfloor heating in the whole house and currently weighing up the options. The ground floor will definitely be UFH (concrete floor so will be 100mm celotex + pipes + screed + flooring.) and we are...
As part of a renovation, our plumber installed UFH in the main ground floor areas, as we were having new floors laid. Rads were installed in the rest of the house. The UFH is in two separate zones (separate flow monitors for each). Therefore, a 3 zone system in total.
The plumber left us with...
Almost a year ago I was trying to resolve a few issues with our underfloor - see orignal thread in plumbing here:
https://www.diynot.com/diy/threads/underfloor-heating-a-couple-of-issues.493454/
The meachancal side is fairly under control (!) now nut the control side - electrically, is still...
Hi
Anyone got any tips for laying our 20mm PE-RT underfloor heating pipes into aluminium spreader plates (200 mm centres)?
Specifically I'm after advice on how to get the pipe to be more flexible. The pipe is really stiff and very difficult to get it to fit around the bends.
I'm going to try...
Hi,
I've just moved into a flat with Devimat heating and am confused about the settings / display.
1. Should the mat switch off as soon as it reaches the end of the "on" time?
This morning, I noticed that the Devireg 550 controller in one of the rooms was showing the heating-up symbol about 40...
Hi, recently purchased a bungalow with UFH controlled by devireg 550s in every room.
They are all wired and the displays on, but no matter what i set the timers and temperatures to the heating is not kicking in when expected and appears to kick in randomly.
Downloaded several manuals and i...
Sorry, this is a nested question..
Old suspended 1960s floor comprises:
3" void, 3" timber heights (sat on engineering bricks, levelled with cement), floorboards.
Joist spacing sees 440mm approx inbetween joists. Joists are 2.5" wide.
Goals:
- insulate between timbers
- UFH: install over tray...
Hello UFH people. I am about to install a wet underfloor heating system
25mm 8:1 screed over celotex between joists @ 400 centers. Seems to be the best fit for our project.
I need to get the pipe work in soon so that the floor can go down. And then I’ll do a bit more research on manifolds/...
Ok. So I know that cost is a very subjective thing but I'm in the midst of a renovation - my first real project - and we're planning to tile most of our ground floor so to take the cold edge of the tiles, we're planning on installing electric underfloor heating.
We've had a quote for around...
Ok I am a beginner so may not get the terminology right so apologies in advance(part of the battle with DIY is know what questions to ask(the other part is know who to ask)) but from reading other posts I think I am in the right place. So hope you can help me
as the Title suggest I have and...
