I don't think i've ever seen a 15A plug that takes that size of fuse though (the only fused 15A plugs i'm aware of are the MK ones that take BS 646 fuses which only seem to go up to 5A).

That could be just the thing for a welding enthusiast somewhere - save the hassle of soldering 15amp fusewire into the plugtop...

I'm sure I have heard about 15A round pin plugs with a removeable pin with a fuse in it, doubt they will take that size fuse though.
I don't really see the point in fusing a 15A BS546 fuse with an internal 15A fuse as it's supply should only be 15A max anyway.

Confession Time:
In a previous life, I had a supply of these 15a fuses, and fitted a variety of plugboards with them, because the total load on the plugboards, whilst probably not exceeding 13a, was pretty damn close. And a blacked out stage was not an experience I relished at the time.

If I remember correctly, in some situations where the load was not likely to be excessive I may have just swapped the fuse in the plugboard itself for 15a, and left the plug fuse as 13a, giving some 'discrimination'.
That way, at least if a fuse popped, the chances are it was in the plug, and I didn't have two fuses to check.

I don't think plugboards now have a fuse in them, but for some reason they always used to.

There were some old Dorman-Smith plugs & sockets which had a fuse in the live pin, replaced by just unscrewing the pin from the front of the plug. They had round pins set somewhat more closely together than a BS546 plug, with a slight point on the earth pin to operate the shutter mechanism. They were popular in certain quarters for a time as an alternative to BS1363.

I can't recall what size fuses they took offhand.

Wow he took my comment on board. I emailed him this:

Dear mikdan75,

Are you aware that this item is dangerously unsafe
for use in UK plugs, which are rated at 13A. If a
15A fuse is used, it poses a significant fire
risk, as a 15A load WILL melt a UK plug. Please,
for the sake of others' safety, remove this item
from sale.
