In that case, ask them to come and test your drinking water for lead. Do that quickly. In my case they were so slow coming round that I'd already replaced the consumer side pipes, so the lead content was low and they wouldn't do any work.
If the lead content is anything other than very low, they will replace all their lead pipes, possibly contribute to your own work, will dig up the pavement up to the boundary, and will be in a position to connect your nice new pipe to their nice new pipe, thua avoiding a lot of the difficulty I suffered.
