Hi,

I’m replacing my old 2 gang switch with a smart switch. Having taken a look at the existing wiring I’m a little confused. The existing switch has COM L1 L2 while the new has L1, L2 and L3 I believe I understand COM is L1 and L1 is L2. So no problem there. However I have a yellow wire that I was not expecting to see as we have no ceiling fan or other outlets that I’m aware of.

Given the new switch has L, L1, L2, L3, L4 and N I’m confused as to where this should go. (L3 and 4 redundant). I have installed a 1 gang successfully but want to avoid issues with this.

You seem to have a couple of problems. Firstly you need a neutral to operate your smart switch which you do not have in the 2 gang 2way switch that is shown in the pic.. You have 1 switch controlling a light and another that I would say is part of a 2 way circuit to a light in a different location. Your second problem is that unless I am mistaken your smart switch will only act as 2 single way switches and not a 2 way switch.
