2 Way switch wiring problem

Don't worry about that - it could be me not bothering to work it out properly...

And yes D is the permanent Live ( I got left and right switch mixed up )

So move the link E to bridge D and B?
A - 1
C - 2
D - 3
B - 4
with E linking 3 & 4 (D & B)

So, Mr 266......

You are a serial switch-taker-offerer-failing-to-mark the-conductors??

:sneaky:

Guilty as charged.. and not too pleased with myself for causing everyone to jump in and lend a hand again...! So thanks to everyone who has posted.

You could stick the cable marked D (suspected as perm live)
In com of one of the gangs and leave link out, then by a process of establishment.
Try each of the remaining cables in L1 or L2 of that gang, this would identify one by one what does what. Then once you have done that you can then terminate the cables accordingly.
Obviously safe isolation would be required during each stage of termination.

No - move the link E.
I have done this and all seems to be OK. Thanks.

The only difference now is lights are on left and fan on right but I can live with that!

Many thanks to everyone who took time to post - and my sincere apologies for not learning from my experiences. I promise to change!!

Just swap the two wires on their own over.

Thanks for the info - I'm going to stick with things as they are now as what was going to be a five minute job has become 3 hours!.

Thanks everyone!
