Seriously though @trevw, @Razor900 is correct on this - a heat pump will (at best) have very similar running costs to a mains gas boiler but the installation costs are way higher even with the grant. Mains gas isn't going anywhere any time soon so you can replace your existing Flexibomb with another gas boiler and it'll keep you nice and warm for years to come
@muggles there is definitely a growing place for heat pumps and once the cowboys are cleared out of the industry and their reputation isn't being ruined by bad installations they will be one of the ways forward.
At the moment though unless you live in a very well insulated house if you're on mains gas it wins almost every time
