I wish to run a 3/4 HP water pump for a pond filtration system. I was thinking of running it off a 13amp RCD spur. Is that acceptable and what amps will this motor pull?

regards, derek..

3 hp is about 2.2KW which is about 9amps from a 230V supply. therefore 3amps per hp so 3/4hp is 2.25 amps.

Hope I have done my maths right....

presuming 13A means you are running it on 230v mains:
3/4 HP=0.5595 kilowatt
I=P/V
therefore 559.5w/230v=2.4326amps running current, allowance should be made for starting current but in your case the 13A RCD is sufficient.
