The one that works the working light.

Ok, then everything seems to be as it should be.

You have power to the left switch and the right switch works a light.

So, that just leaves -
the blacks might not be connected to the switch correctly - bit much to expect both are not.

Many an hour wasted over faulty new products.

I don't know what else to say.

ok so put the old socket back and all works fine. how annoying. Only positive is i must of lost some weight up and downstairs a hundred times switching the breaker on and off.

So is that definitely a dodgey socket then?

I assume it worked correctly before you changed the switch?

EG, you have not moved in to a house with an incorrectly wired switch...

If it did work before, you must have something amiss.

It is possible the feed in to the commons is via one of the blacks, not one of the reds.

Yes i bought a new 3 gang SWITCH. Translating the connection from old to new was my problem, but the experts on here said it looked like I had fitted it correctly, but it only worked 1 of the 3 lights. When I put the old SWITCH back all 3 worked as before. I've bought another SWITCH so will try again once I've recovered from this!

it was. watch this space........! i had no choice, all the sockets/switches need to match. I have 3 double sockets, 2 fused connectors, 1 single light switch and the treble.
