Would some kind of standard kitchen fan (white plastic box looking type) be ok? Maybe with some kind of baffle just in front if appearance is important?

He's got a point. Bung the fridge freezer in there, or turn it into a larder.

We're having a side by side American fridge so it won't squeeze one in that space sadly and we've got another useless space just off the main kitchen that's a larder
