Went to customers house to replace his gainsbrough shower which has broken. Its protected by a 32A breaker only, but claims its a 9.5 kw shower (overloading I would think)? There is no rating on the casing or internally and on quick inspection seems to be a 6mm cable.
Does that stack up or not??

9.5kw is 40A, so the 32A breaker is not suitable. The 6mm cable could be ok, depending on length and where it is installed, although for a new install with a shower of that rating, 10mm would be usual.

32A limits you to a 7.5kw shower.

Umm I thought the breaker was not suitable and the cable was too narrow a gauge. Customer is a tight *** so I may inform him I can not do the work without at the very least a new breaker and cable + shower. I don't do CU changes and nowhere for an inline RCD (unless it was hidden in the loft!).
6mm cable is M1 method (clipped direct) and about 7-8m long.

no disrespect but, are you a spark or plumber.....??

If you are a spark (or even a plumber and your doing this type of work)...should you not know the answer to your own question....pretty fundamental i think?

Easy tiger! Its a forum for giving useful information, not one man saying he is better than another.
Information saves lives, misinformation or no information can lead to a bad result.
Some of what I say is meant to be tongue-in-check...not literally! ;)
