LMB, about ten years ago, I bought a car, within 3 days I'd been stopped by the police on 3 occasions. It transpired that the previous owner had indeed been done for drink driving. When I was stopped the first time, the copper approached the car , looked at me and said "Oh it's not you." to which I replied " It most certainly is me." He explained about the previous owner and promised to put it on the database that the car had a new "innocent" owner. Obviously, this took longer than 3 days. Each time I was stopped it was because the car had been flagged up on the ANPR system. The police were therefore wasting their own time, as well as mine.
I have related on here, the time when my younger brother was victimised by the police, for which he received a hand written apology from the chief of Derbyshire police, so no one can tell me that the police don't victimise people, when they so obviously do. Police officers who behave this way are themselves guilty of wasting police time, but never face any charges of wilfully wasting police time , nor that of abusing their position as a public servant.
