Hello all,
New here.
I have a couple of AEG semi-old washing machines and tumble dryers.
Just because i like them much more than the newer ones. They are the last of the real button generations. Not the sensi-touch ones.
So, On my washing machine, AEG Lavamat Exclusiv L89499FL, I would like to build in a drum light. I have that on my AEG tumble dryer, T87685IH3. Very nice so I can better see, if a sock or something is stil in there
But not many washing machines have this feature: light in the drum. The following model AEG Lavamat Exclusiv LM98699F, which I also happen to have, there is exactly that: drum light.
Since the machine died, program wheel and dead bearings in the drum, I slaughtered it for parts, as many of them can fit the L89499FL washing machine.
I took out all parts. I saved for example the big grey rubber door seal, the wirenet and the LED bulb.
So, looking at AEG's partslist, I can simply swap the Door rubber, insert the LED and connect the two thin light blue wires to the empty socket on the extreme right side (looking at the board in front of me on the desk) of the connecting panel of the computer. No can do. No light.
So, not giving up that easy, I know the later LM98699F have more functions, like time, 2 memory buttons and a text line, plus it can spin up to 1600 rpm.
Apart from that, most, not all, of the basic design is similar. The LM98699F does have a few tubes less and a single recirkulation pump, where as mu L89499FL does have two, plus the tubes for it.
Anyway, they of course also have different computers and different display/button sections.
But, I suppose AEG designed a somewhat uni-system, where some parts are re-used in different configurations. That is whey they sell both an unconfigured computer and a configured one. They are of course different from the two washing machines. But the unconfigured ones are the same. That tells me, that they have an eeprom and can be configured.
Question 1: is there any chance I can do this? Software, program tables? I do have some access to eeprom gear in general.
Question 2: what triggers the light on, when the door is opened? There is no difference in the door lock switch.
I therefore think that since both LM98699F and L89499FL does have the semi-same display (just with an added text line on one) and same weight sensor on one damper rod, and same washing powder suggestion in % in the display, and same wires etc going between the computer and the display/button section, the door light could possibly be a function of that weight/detergent suggestion, as long as the machine is turned on, of course. I may be wrong?
Question 3: Since AEG planned a lot of machines at the same time, I guess, I take it, that some features are unused, and some are "unlocked", and finally, some features came along the way. One of these that could be an add on later on, could be the 2 memory buttons and the text line in the display.
If that is correct, then these functions were added to the display/button section, as they are also controlled from there, and there are no extra wires. That would leave the computer the same, apart from various eeprom settings.
I also know that the eeprom is used to store error messages, and I am familiar with that and how to operate that.
Could this be a correct assumption?
Question 4: Can I simply swap the LM98699F computer into the L89499FL machine? Apart from those extra features mentioned, which I think is built into the display/button section, they are really similar.
Kind regards,
LaverdaSFC1000
Edit: Or is it possible to enter a special service mode, and there change parameters to include drum light working?
Edit 2: I now think that theoretically the led comes on when the machine is turned on, and the door lock is not activated. That is, I believe, how the machine "knows" that it should turn on the light. As soon as the door is locked electrically, the solenoid in the door lock is moved, it tells the computer that it should activate a slow turn off of the led bulb.
