a thought for the plumbers

in Uk electrics, there is a sticky for reference post, how about one over here, it could then have pictures etc of "bits and bobs" such as 3 port valve, ch circulator / pump.

could even have a post for "expansion vessel, and like uk electrics any one can add to it.

wht do you all think? if Yes then we can but ask. if no i have my coat at the ready

whats the difference between

2 tanks in the attic

1 tank

no tanks ( combi ? )

there are many recurring question

how do I bleed a pump

How do I flush a radiator

Power flushing

What are inhibitors etc - when and why should I add thm

Direct / indirect tanks - what are they

How do three port valves work - if u/s how do i change one

Replacing a dead central heating pump

Just a few to get on with

The for reference section in the electrical forum is a goldmine

If read properly, 90 % of questions need not to be asked

Swelec has made a good point and it would be a good idea to have a dummy proof addition to this site showing how things can be fixed.
Also for the Mods how about getting rid of the country of origin and replacing it with regions i. e London West mids etc same as the ASK THE QUESTION FORUM :)

think of it as running singles everwhere, except using copper pipe instead of copper cables = instead of live and neutral you have flow and return.

i was only thinking of having a for refence section just to make identifying parts easier, and how they are plumbed in not how to fix problems. (same as the uk refence section, it only shows how its done not how to fix it.

also there are these pageswill do give genereal instructions.

Like uk electrics, every job is different, so you could not hope to give all answers in a refernce section

perhaps it was not such a good idea?

id still run with it
how many times do you have to type instructions to re press an ex vessel
i think its a good idea breezer not how to do as much as what have you got if nothing else :)

thanks kevplumb, but as yet you are the only one that is for it.

breezer

kevplumbs point is valid

how many times do you get the same question which can be answered " refer to section xyz" or "see drawing abc"

I know a lot of people ask these questions because they haven't done the neccesary search, but how many come to the forum, find the answer in the reference section so don't need to post a question ? - but could say thank you all the same

:D :D :D

kevplumb

give your esteemed colleagues some time

It would not be fair to dump all the work on one person so come on you plumbers

you know it makes sense

Good idea Breezer,

I say go for it, any volunteer from plumber's to help ?

What would be a good idea as Breezer have done one for Hotpoint washing machine to identify each parts on the picture.

Maybe a few picture for identification such as, motorized valve, pump with bleed valve, stopcock valve, ballvalve, radiator bleed valve, tap washers, wiring diagram and so on. This may help the poster to write the correct item !

No picture of a combi please
