I've just bought a device with an AC/DC adapter with a 25' lead. The device has to be located in the garden 100' distant.
The power details are Input 12w Output 12 v 500 ma 6VA
Can I just cut into the adapter cable and insert an additional length of cable to reach the desired location or would there be a significant power loss over that distance with such a low voltage through the lightweight cable?
There is power near the device location so an exterior socket could be fitted but that would presumably need a qualified electrician (although I could actually do it myself!) and would cost much more.
Thanks
