I require some alterations to a lighting circuit.

The electrician as part of the quote mentioned access to ceiling via loft.

I thought I'd make the job easier by preping the area - pulling up carpet etc.

However, it soon transpired someone in the past took a belt and braces approach to flooring the loft. Each large format board that makes up the floor is secured by a ton of large tacks/nails. Each board is very tight up to the next. So getting them up is nigh on impossible!

Any thoughts to access options? Cutting a hole at the required points is one of the few I can think of. Is there anyway to cut a hole with an angled bevel so that a section can be removed and reinserted like a plug?

Ahh brilliant. Just the solution I imagined.

In that case, I'll just leave the carpet pulled up as I expect an electrician to have such a tool to hand.

I thought pulling up the boards would have been made everything much easier. I hoped they had used screws, but no, many nails.

And those boards are T&G on all 4 sides. Horrible. Even if they were screwed, so would you be.

I have the tool, but have currently run out of the plugs to go in the holes...
