hello i have an alarm system and untill last week worked fine it showed on the pannel that it had a tamper problem in the past this has happened and changes the battery so i did again the old battery was 6 years old. any way now on the pannel i can get any movement or sounds from the buttons at all if i put the numbers in nothing its like its frozen just dont accept anything when i press reset nothing happens and yet their is power as the tamper light is on . i took the battery out of the main pannel and switch the mains off and the alarm went of outside but i cant set the alarm at all any help will be much appreciated thanks

another thread is talking about a similar problem. Does the keypad work with the batt disconnected and just mains on?
 
the key pad does not work at all tried turning th epower off and taking the battery out when all back in and on the key pad is frozen if thats makes any sence

It won't untill the tamper is clear ! Link out the following , tamper , bell tamper , keypad tamper . Now try
 
how do i do that sparkymarka as i cant get anything out of the keypad . its like its locked out frozen if that makes sence
 
but with batt off and mains on does it work?
i tried with the battery out and the mains of the alarm went of but when put battery back in and turned mains on i pressed the number on to cancell the alarm and again frozen out the key pad just wont do anythink
 
Powering up with a tamper fault will allow you to silence the alarm . Then the keypad will seem locked out untill you press reset, if the tampers clear it will allow you to use the system , if the tamper is still open it will lock out the keypad

when you say link out the tamper hood do you mean disconnect as ive not really got a clue when it comes to alarms
 
Isolate the power to the alarm, take off the lid, disconnect the battery. Then put a link (piece of wire) between the terminals listed below where it says factory fitted links. This will link out all the tamper protection. If this resolves the issue you can then remove them one at a time to find the problem. Make sure you label any wires you remove to add in the links.
