ADT Galaxy System / Control Box Digital out ??

Currently have an ADT monitored system with a Galaxy control panel. Thinking of leaving ADT as it is getting way too expensive now at £35 per month. Want to know if the control panel which is in my garage has a digital out on it ?. A friend has said that if and when I leave ADT and providing they don't come and take the kit away I could still use the system locally if it had a digital out. Not quite sure how but he is a tech genius and he said he would run it via a raspberry pi ?

Does anyone know if it has and if this is possible ?

Can't answer your question per-se, but new replacement Galaxy G2-12 (12 zone) panels are on ebay for about £30, and all your existing sensors/keypad etc can be re-used. This is what I did with my old ADT system. You can add an ethernet module to the Galaxy (for about £50) and have full control of the panel from a phone app (or any means of internet) for £1/month. Google Selfmon for more info, quite a few on here (myself included) are happy customers.
Be aware that lots of monitored systems don't have an external siren so you might choose to fit one at the same time - IMHO there's not much point having an alarm which only makes noise inside the house. And you might choose to fit a new battery to your panel if your 'old' one is quite old.

Thanks Alan, that is really helpful. Just spoke to ADT and I actually own the kit and I do have an external siren. They want 3 months notice though which is a pain but have started the ball rolling with them now
