I have been surprised at what one can use as an aerial, I wanted to listen to BBC world service on the Falklands when on a mountain site, so ran a length of cable through the air vent of the container I was living in so I could listen in my room. But to transmit I had intended to go outside, only to find we were locked in, so stuck the wire in my two meter set, no way should a long wire have worked, but it did. Not a bad VSWR either.
I had been told we were to get TV in mount pleasant, so 70 cm and TV not that far apart in frequency, so tried my aerial to see what I could get, but found the TV's built in loop was doing a better job, not a good signal, but could see enough to realise I was watching porn, could not get a better signal so gave up, only to find out some one had a TV/video and their built in aerial was transmitting the VCR signal.
I have not tested the receive signal using soap, but who knows what one would get, maybe
