Air compressor for air tools

My compressor goes back to the '50, or at least the receiver does, it's had about 3 replacement compressors and 4 motors since I had, mainly because of the problems mentioned, its a lot bigger than it was now, it was OK for spraying though providing you stopped at a convenient point to allow it to recover. It was used for many years to blow the dust out of TVs, but now mostly for tyre inflation and unblocking windscreen washer jets. The last replacement compressor was a twin cylinder one made for a tank, it lives up to its heritage, been on there for 20 years or more now.

My local car breakers bought a battery impact wrench when they first came out, best tool he has ever had he says.

Are you checking your ccompressor tank for internal corrosion?

No, I'm expecting it to explode anytime:cautious:. I am amazed it hasn't at least started leaking but the tank is very thick and very heavy and it also has a lot of oil in it. Its vertical, about 3' high with the compressor sitting on the top, I did a deal with someone for it in the '50s so it's done very well. I dont run it much above 100 psi and I'm rarely in the garage when it's running - but yes I have given thought to the integrity of it but I don't think its likely to explode, I think it will leak or split when it does fail.
