Hi Guys,

Looking for some advice on an alarm system that i'd like to install in my house (average 3 bed terraced). I would like an alarm system I could install myself, and one that has a good record of not giving false alarms (installed correctly of course).

What do you think of the following alarm?

Also, what else would i need to consider in an alarm system? Any recommendations/advice much appreciated!

Cheers

You don't get much stuff with that kit.

Personally I like Texecom. They are in my experience very reliable, and come with very detailed step by step installation instructions making it easy to programme, even for a beginner.

You may want to add a couple of PIRs to the kit.

If your budget allows it, then spend a bit more on the kit.

There are lots off other things you may want to consier, such as an LCD keypad or an autodialler

As with everything, you get what you pay for.

If you can afford it, then I'd recommend this:

<edit>

On re-reading the spec it may be a little OTT for a domestic installation. :)

It's only a three bed terrace, not Buckingham Palace.

For a quick cheap job the stuff he is looking at looks OK.

Thanks for the responses guys. Are the Texecom range that much better than the screwfix stuff? I understand you get what you pay for, but would like to know what makes some better than others.

cheers

it all depends on what you want and the installer

i prefer gardtecs wireless range, it meets the same grade as wired and is so much less hassle to install. its that good it can be installed for a police response system, unlike cheapo wireless gear from the diy sheds and alike.

feel free to email us at ********** if you need any advice.
have a look at the gardtec wireless kit here[/url]

MODS, WHY ARE LINKS IN MY POST REMOVED BUT OTHERS LEFT?

O/P if you want to contact me for any advice my email is in my profile.

It's simple really, if you want to advertise you have to pay for it.

Your links advertise your own 'shop'

Others do not.

ok, no problem.[although i never said it was my eshop] but does that make it any less relevant?

the fact that staff from this eshop are willing to give time on here to advise and help[not just on stuff we sell] should be a plus in my book?

There's no benefit in wireless, better off hard-wired.
